03.03.2013 TÜRSAB underlined the tourism potential of Slovenia.

The fam trip organized with the contributions of the Turkish Travel Agencies Association and the Slovenian Tourism Authorities took place on 26-28 February. Turkish tourists had the opportunity to closely examine Slovenia's health, thermal and sports tourism and gastronomic studies.

 

Within the scope of the project of 60 countries in 5 years, this time Turkish Tourism Agencies (TÜRSAB) examined the tourism potential of Slovenia. Veli Terzi, Chairman of TÜRSAB Disciplinary Board, Nezih Üçkardeşler TÜRSAB Asia BYK President and Health Committee Member, Gülberk Aşyapar from TÜRSAB Institutional Relations Department, and various agency and tour operator firms participated in the study tour between 26-28 February.

The TÜRSAB delegation had the opportunity to examine the tourism products and prominent destinations of Slovenia, especially  the health tourism activities of the country were under the spotlight by Turkish tourism people.  Agent representatives who met their Slovenian colleagues in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, had the opportunity to learn about the country's tourism efforts, visitor profile and markets to focus on from the Tourist Office Manager in Karmen Novarlic of Slovenia.  While Slovenian tourism authorities have stated that Turkish agencies can be governmentaly supported for their work towards Slovenia in various ways, Turkish authorities have expressed their determination to increase cooperation.

The TÜRSAB delegation received a variety of information from Mayor Milan Milk while closely examining the touristic activities of Maribor, the Slovenia's second largest city and also the 2012 European Capital of Culture, in Hisa Stare Trte, which was used as the Wine Museum. Delegation also visited the cities of Bled and Nova Gorica had opportunity to meet the authorities and to examine the facilities closely.

The Turkish delegation, who also visited the Turkish Embassy in Slovenia's capital city Ljubljana, met with Ambassador Serra Kaleli at dinner. Turkish tourists have had the opportunity to obtain detailed information on the economic, cultural and social life of Slovenia from the Ambassador. Mr. Ayhan Öztürk, THY Ljubljana Director informed the agency authorities about the work they carried out in the region.

Slovenia, whose population is estimated to be around 2 million 55 million, the total number of the people departing the country is 2 million 688 thousand 960. They travel 2 to 5 days for travel / sightseeing to Turkey, and 12 days for long tours. The most preferred destinations of Slovenes in Turkey are İstanbul and Antalya regions respectively. The most preferred type of holiday for the Slovenes coming to Turkey is in the form of resting and visiting the touristical places.

 

 According to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of tourists coming from Slovenia to Turkey in 2012 decreased by -4.71% compared to 2011 and decreased to 39,899. The number of tourists visiting Slovenia in 2011 was 2 million 37 thousand persons according to the data of world tourism organization, and the tourism revenue of the country was realized as 2 billion 717 million US dollars in the same
